For eight long years, Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins has tracked the vicious criminal known as The Unicorn. But the killer has frustrated MI6 at every turn and has remained successful at Impeding Justice.

When Lorne is targeted in a trap that results in the death of her partner, the tragedy shakes her confidence to the core. Before she has time to recoup, her teenage daughter is kidnapped. More than Lorne's professional reputation rests on her bringing The Unicorn to justice.

Impeding Justice Justice Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) M A Comley Anna ParkerNaples Jeamel Publishing Limited Books

Fast paced, true suspense. However, the drama keeps going and going like a good battery. When does it end? I got tired of reading. I didn't like Lorne. Everyone tip toed around her. Did she really love her family, or did she show love when it was convenient for her to do so. Did she really love her husband? Lastly, the foul description of acts were not necessary to get the picture. I don't know the type of mind that can describe in such details the acts of a deranged mind. Enough is enough.

Will I read the next sequel? I may, only to finish the story. However, if I knew someone who bought the book, I would only read the final chapter and not continue to read an endless drama.

Impeding Justice Justice Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) M A Comley Anna ParkerNaples Jeamel Publishing Limited Books Reviews

here is another serial detective whom I like; it's her third book I've read (one was a terribly written prequel to the first story and luckily I only read it after 1 and 2) and will definitely keep her in my eyesight for more. She lost her partner almost from the start and so this became as much psychology as detective. She writes quite well and her characters are usually very realistic. It is amazing that many of the books I read aren't very high on the police specially at the higher elevations and seen in that light Jefferson might not be such an unusual event.
I suppose it started with Sherlock Holmes and Moriarity, followed by Superman and Lex Luthor, Batman and The Joker. I'm talking about the personal interaction between good and evil, the policeman or detective who is targeted by a criminal nemesis.

How often does this happen in real life? I suspect you could count the totality without taking off your shoes. And yet, according to detective fiction it's an everyday occurrence. Frankly, I'm getting tired of it. I've started hoping the kidnapped uncle/son/daughter/wife/etc. is horribly tortured and murdered, just for a change.

I haven't yet finished this book, and I probably will--eventually. It's not poor writing. Ms. Comley has a flair for descriptive story telling. Let us hope she can find a less tired, more realistic plot.
What an incredible emotional rollercoaster. My heart was in my mouth from the beginning right through to the end. This read was a far more personal situation for the main character, Lorne, than her previous book. I still struggle with Lorne's love life, as I can understand the male's point of view as he has some valid points, leaving me wanting to shake Lorne. The events that take place though are amazing. I'm currently reading book number 3.
This combination of crime drama and horror is lacking in character development in regards to the villain. How the villain became what he is, is missing and how it was determined who the villain is, is lacking. Suddenly two names appear from another source after 8 years of an investigation into the horrific crimes without any explanation as to why those two names were selected. The female investigator in the case is unrealistically left in charge even when her own family members become victims of the diabolical criminal. The likelihood that would happen is highly doubtful. However, all in all, the action keeps moving forward and engages the reader for the duration of the book. The ending leaves the reader with either the desire to read the following book or never reading anything further from the writer due to the unbelievable aspects of the composition. Unfortunately, this is the type of book that movie producers of horror would love because it definitely would be filled with blood, gore, threats and nail biting.
Not for the faint-of-heart. This is not my normal read. I can usually be found cruising the comedy and chicklit aisles. I met Mel Comley on FaceBook and decided to check out her "Justice" series based on all the stars she was wearing.) I'm glad I did.

I know British bobbies don't carry guns, but I thought homicide detectives MUST be armed. What a shock to discover these heroes face death unarmed. When Lorne Simpkins comes barreling down on the illusive arch-criminal, the Unicorn, gun or no gun, watch out!
As the story progresses Lorne's daughter is kidnapped, at that point I couldn't bear the tension. I had to put the book down for a day. I was literally shaking and my heart was racing. But I HAD to know what happened next. This is more than a page-turner.
The characters are well drawn, the plot is terrifying. I look forward to reading the other books in the series. If you like your tension high-pitched and your characters edgy, I recommend you check out Mel Comley's series Cruel Justice, Impeding Justice, and Final Justice.
Impeding Justice (DI Lorne Simpkins thriller (Book Two))
This is a fast paced thriller. Put the cat out and forget about the washing up. I read this story in two and a half days and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins has been tracking the Unicorn. He evades capture and laughs in her face at every turn. Her partner lies dead and but she must go on and capture this ruthless madman. The next 48 hours, she doesn't sleep or rest as she tries to save her family from death at the Unicorn's hand. At every turn, when she thinks she's outsmarted him, he tricks her yet again. But in the final chapters he is cornered, but is he? Read the book to find out. I have noted that some reviews say that couldn't get into this book because was too formal. I didn't find this to be a problem.

An absorbing story with kidnapping, rape, murder and torture thrown into the mix. I can recommend this book.

The Deadly Caress by O.N. Stefan getBook.at/B00I0DI0MY.
The whirlwind roller coaster of book 1 of this series continues unabated in this volume. DI Lorne Simpkins is In search of her old nemesis, a serial killer called the Unicorn. Her family, her friends, her co-workers are all threatened and this goes nonstop to the ending. I believe it would be a necessity to read the first volume, and then this one. Have also read the third (review to follow) and these are more cohesive if read in order. There are still some harsh and cruel situations as in the first, but for the most part the book is very readable.
Fast paced, true suspense. However, the drama keeps going and going like a good battery. When does it end? I got tired of reading. I didn't like Lorne. Everyone tip toed around her. Did she really love her family, or did she show love when it was convenient for her to do so. Did she really love her husband?
